How do you love a man who married you against his will?
For Corva Collier, life as a mail-order bride in the quirky town of Haskell, Wyoming is her last chance for escape. She longs for a peaceful life away from the darkness of her past where she can create the paintings that are close to her heart, and where she hopes she can grow to love her husband.
Franklin Haskell never planned to marry. What woman would want a man who was crippled due to his own arrogance? But when he is offered the chance to help a woman in crisis, he agrees to wed. Corva is so much more than he expected, and when a baseball game gives her the chance to shine, he loses his heart.
The game of love has never been so hard to play…or so worth winning.

His Perfect Bride The Brides of Paradise Ranch Spicy Version Book 1 edition by Merry Farmer Romance eBooks
I see that I'm in the minority here. Oh well ... I am just giving my honest opinion. The premise had tremendous promise but the execution fell far short of the mark. The hero and heroine, while likeable, were very one-dimensional when they could have been amazing. There just wasn't enough substance there. Everything seemed so rushed. The style of writing felt somewhat immature and juvenile. Much of the dialog of the "mean girls" sounded like young middle school age girls. It's hard to believe that an entire town would put up with that kind of constant behavior.
And of course, since this is a series, there are those unanswered questions left so that the reader has to continue to buy book after book after book to get those questions answered. That is very annoying and, as far as I am concerned, a ploy to make more money with less effort from the author.
I will not be reading anymore books in this series.

His Perfect Bride The Brides of Paradise Ranch Spicy Version Book 1 edition by Merry Farmer Romance eBooks Reviews
Since mail order brides haven't been my thing, I've only read a few. There are exceptions and this is one. The author created an environment of a small town with interesting people, into which she set her hero and heroine. Based on certain characteristics, they were both unique for romances, but they fit the genre. The author turned out two versions of this book-- sweet and spicy. While this one is supposed to be the spicy version, and does have a great love scene, something the hero and heroine deserved, I've read supposedly sweet books with more constant emphasis on the physical. This story brought out the other reasons these two were drawn together. Since settings matter a lot to me, that alone attracted me to the story but it really sold me when the heroine is a painter. She had the kind of motivation I always enjoy in a story. If you like historicals with characters that make you root for them, this is your book.
What an absolute charm this book is! From hardship and heartache to love and happiness, this book tells a tale like no other. Corva, a young woman who has suffered from so much physical and verbal abuse thanks to an uncle who she believes also "helped" her aunt meet her demise, and who managed, with help from a friend, to escape from his home, has been given an opportunity to start a new life, in the town of Haskell Wyoming, as the bride to a man she has never me, yet seems to need her as much as she needs him. Franklin has been living through his own pity party for the past decade, and with the encouragement from his Aunt, has agreed to marry a woman who is in need of a fresh start, a woman who has been battered and beaten in life. And from the first reactions when they lay eyes upon each other, the sparks are sure to fly. Will they manage to overcome the many obstacles thrown their way? Or will they crumble and give in to life's heartaches once again?
A beautiful story that will have you rejoicing even though your eyes may find a bit of mist a time or two. Well done!
I do not know if I will read book 2. I prefer a story to end, not have the villain continue to book 2. Is the whole town stupid? EVERYONE knows what he is. They would do something about it! This story line is not logical, nor does it satisfy the readers desire for a great ending. And I do not like authors who leave a story hanging so are forced to read their next book! I just decided, I am not reading book 2!
This is a sweet, but fairly predictable story. Franklin and Corva both come to their marriage with emotional baggage, but they work through their issues pretty quickly as soon as they start talking to each other, a process helped along by an entire host of benevolent neighbors and family members. In fact, other than the main couple, everyone is either purely good and generous or purely mean and selfish, with no real complexities or nuance. The book could also have used a bit more effort on research. If your going to talk about the food, make sure it's appropriate to the time and place. Spinach pie and pasta? It's Wyoming in the 1870s, not New York in the 1970s. Macaroni, maybe, if you want to stretch a bit, but definitely not "pasta". You want to make the point that they didn't just eat meat? Give them fruit pies and creamed onions and succotash and buttered peas. For me, mistakes like that are really distracting. The writing is pretty good, though, and Farmer's descriptions are strong enough to give you a really clear visual sense of the people and places. All in all, a pleasant if fluffy piece of writing.
I noticed I placed my review on the wrong book and quickly changed it. I have three books with the same name and one of them is no longer up....So that is why my review didn't make sense after I went back and overlooked it... I mean what else are you going to do when a hurricane knocks out the power...read read read.
Edit
This was sweet. When someone says spicy I expect to read spicy but this was sweet and kind of touching spicy but overall just sweetness. There was no communication between the two really and if there was it was miscommunication. Its like they just started off on the wrong foot and finished on the wrong foot in my opinion. I don't understand why he agreed to get married when he has such low self esteem and the guilt he felt. I just could not like the start of this and kind of lazily read through the beginning chapters They needed to speak more to each other.....and be spicy a little more then that.
